in·tro·spec·tive: characterized by or given to introspection;
in·tro·spec·tion: a reflective looking inward : an examination of one's own thoughts and feelings. Latin introspectus, past participle of introspicere to look inside.
There is only one way to examine and portray a word as broad and philosophical as introspection. We decided that way was to take the word literally. We looked inside and found bones, organs, and blood vessels. The examination of our own personal thoughts and feelings probably would have resembled tangled yarn but, in the end, our feelings for sweets were the same. As we look inside and discover we are not all that different, our work shows that the interpretation of our thoughts are unique and our styles are our own.
In my work I hoped to create a flow of how candy, as it makes our way through our intriguing (and digesting) digestive system, can change the way I personally think and feel. The skeleton becomes more colorful, the brain becomes chocolate pretzels, and suddenly the body is more candy than organs as more delicious snacks make their way through. Looking back, I hoped to make the photo less busy but, as I give in to introspection, I realize sweets can also jumble the thoughts and mind. I am happy with my first encounter at creating a montage.
